Applications invited for SAARC youth award

Ministry of Human Resource, Youth and Sports has opened invitation to submit application for South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, SAARC, youth award 2009.

The ministry stated that the aim of this award given by SAARC was to give recognition to the outstanding work done by youths in the South Asian region.

The theme of the Award – 2009 is “Outstanding contribution to humanitarian works in the aftermath of Natural Disasters”.

The application forms for this can be downloaded from the SAARC secretariat website and the ministry will accept the application forms till 6 December of this year.

The SAARC Youth Awards Scheme was instituted in 1996 to provide recognition to extraordinary young talents and encourage the overall development of the youth in the region. The Scheme is also aimed at encouraging the South Asian youth to excel in various fields and to realize their full potential.
The SAARC Youth Awards Scheme is open to nationals of SAARC Member Countries, who are within the age group of 20-35 years at the time of nomination. The Award consists of a citation in English; a Gold Medal; and a cash prize of US$ US$ 3000.00
