Wedding Tourism to be introduced in Maldives

Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dr. Ahmed Ali Sawad has said that work is in progress to introduce wedding tourism in the Maldivian tourism industry. Minister Sawad said that a paper has been compiled for this purpose and deliberations and discussions were being held with concerned bodies concerning this.
Speaking at a press conference held on Sunday, Minister Sawad said that wedding tourism is a very popular kind of tourism in other parts of the world and Maldivian economy will be boosted if Maldives opens up for such kind of tourism.
“In some countries, their whole economy is based or dependent on wedding tourism. So even Maldives can gain huge revenues from this. ” said Minister Sawad.
Tourism minister further said that the ministry was deliberating whether wedding tourism was something that can be introduced to Maldives.
