Article Tools
Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) has said that they will definitely succeed in passing the no-confidence motion against Foreign Minister Dr Ahmed Shaheed in the People’s Majlis and fail Dr Shaheed.
Speaking on behalf of DRP, the party’s spokesperson and special envoy Ibrahim Shareef said that they are sure that this motion will go in DRP’s favor and that the main reason why they were doing it was because of Foreign Minister’s foreign policy was posing danger to the country and also affecting the sovereignty of the country. He also said accused that by conducting diplomatic relations with Israel, Dr Shaheed has putting Maldivians in the hands of terrorists.
Miadhu Daily journalist spoke to Dr Shaheed to get his opinion on this matter. Dr Shaheed said that DRP was acting against the constitution of the Maldives and that even though it is a possibility that DRP can win the no confidence motion against him, DRP’s actions were directed at influencing the government and also that DRP was trying to undermine the constitution.
Dr Shaheed said that this was a cunning plan coming out of Alivaage (the residence of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom) to gain control of the power of the country. Dr Shaheed further said that the main objective of DRP was creating obstacles to the government’s work of doing beneficial services to the public. He said that the public was closely watching DRP’s tactics.
