The President also briefed the Minister on the measures that the government of Maldives was taking to improve the living conditions of expatriate workers in the Maldives.

Mr Eng Khandkar Mosharraf Hossain thanked the government and the people of the Maldives on behalf of the government of Bangladesh, for “being such a hospitable host to the Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives”.
A recent survey conducted by Ministry of Human Resource, Youth and Sports, revealed that there were around 16,000 illegal immigrants in Maldives. Work is under way to re employ them through legal means.
