Article Tools
President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the opposition is involved in sorcery to topple the government. He said this speaking at the event held in Artificial Beach on Wednesday evening to mark one year anniversary to the coalition government.
President Nasheed said that a lot of efforts have gone into trying to work with opposition political parties to establish and strengthen democracy in Maldives but that the only activity that the opposition was involved in was that of sorcery. President said that because of such actions from the opposition, all hopes of working with them have been lost.
President Nasheed said that even though there are people who are suspected of corruption and misuse of government funds in the former government, he was ready to put it behind him but the opposition got involved in sorcery as a result of this. President Nasheed said that because of this, the work of President’s Commission will go even faster now. (President’s Commission was appointed by President Nasheed in May to investigate into former administration’s misuse and embezzlement of government funds.)
President Nasheed thanked the people who were with the President during reform activities in the Maldives and also people who were part of MDP.
The meeting was attended by a large number of MDP supporters as well as officials from Adhalat Party, Jumhooree Party and National Congress.
