Print Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP) General Secretary and Kelaa Constituency member of People’s Majlis, Abdullah Mausoom has said that there is no difference between members appointed to the Majlis by the President and the MDP Majlis members.
Speaking to Miadhu Daily, Abdullah Mausoom said MDP had previously criticized the provision in the old constitution which allowed the President of the country to appoint 8 members and their duty was to defend the President and his policies. Mausoom said that this is exactly what the MDP Majlis members are doing in the Majlis now that they are always defending President Nasheed, even though the old constitution has been annulled and the Majlis members are all elected.
Mausoom further said till now none of the MDP Majlis members have spoken against any decision of the MDP ruled government.

this is a sick joke as the public has witnessed the extent to which DRPA members go to defend Maumoon. More Over President Nahseed needs not be defended in person as he is not alleged for any abuse of power or corruption by any independent bodies such as Auditor General. Mr MAusoom should clearly understand that MPs of MDP has to advocate and promote the party policies and manifesto. This odesnt mean MPs are defending President Nasheed. ” empty vessels make more noise” and I feel this allegation is baseless.
