President Mohamed Nasheed had said that every Maldivian should talk about the problems Maldives face due to global warming at every given opportunity. President said this when asked what message he would like to give Maldivians in relation to yesterday’s special underwater cabinet meeting.
Speaking to a journalist from Miadhu Daily, President Nasheed said the work of the government can be made a success only if Maldivians give due importance and attention to this cause.
President said that every Maldivian should try to enlighten the international community that Maldivians, without a fault of their own, are suffering because of global warming and climate change. He added that while Maldives is not a country which emits harmful gases to the atmosphere, countries which are involved in that should take responsibility for what is happening in Maldives.
He further noted that lots of beaches in Maldives are getting eroded and it has endangered property and there is also fear looming that it will endanger lives. President Nasheed said that Maldives faces the problem of water scarcity as ground water is getting contaminated.
President Nasheed further said that, the work of drawing to the attention of the world the problems Maldives face due to climate change, should be something every Maldivian should do for the country.

Quite true what Mr. President has said. We should make our voices be heard. Quite true that we are not emitting as much harmful gases to the atmosphere. But the fact we have to believe is that we are one country in this Asian region having the highest carbon emission rates. Now we see this guy trying to divert attention to what is happening inthe country by another showdown. What if the Copenhagen talks fail? Perhaphs the “Mentally Deranged Paranoids” could become Ambassadors of Doom and go travelling all over the world with this message.
Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW) (and therefore ACC) is a mistake. All of the global average temperatures are readily calculated for the entire 20th century and until the present with no consideration whatsoever of atmospheric carbon dioxide.
