DRP will not win the no confidence motion – MDP
Article Tools
Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) parliamentary leader in People’s Majlis, Moosa Manik, has said that he has 100 percent guarantee that DRP will not win the no confidence motion that they plan to initiate against a cabinet member today’s Majlis.
Moosa Manik, who is also the Hulhu Henveiru constituency member of Majlis, said that it was impossible for DRP to win such a motion.
“I am not aware that any minister has done anything to prompt a no confidence motion in the Majlis. If DRP is trying to play with a government that has been elected by the people, I don’t think you will see good results out of this. Till now government has conducted its affairs justly. I would say if DRP is going to be dictatorial in the Majlis, don’t do anything stupid. We will do everything we can in the Majlis to defend the cabinet ministers.” said MDP Majlis member Moosa Manik.
Moosa Manik said that if any of the cabinet ministers was doing anything to evoke a no confidence motion, then it won’t DRP who will initiate a no confidence motion but that MDP itself would do it.
While there is a possibility that the no confidence motion may be against Foreign Minister Dr Shaheed, Moosa Manik said that if DRP decides to do it, then it would only be because Dr Shaheed is a capable minister.
Moosa Manik further said that instead of hassling cabinet ministers, the smarter thing for DRP Majlis members to do would be to proceed with Majlis work. Moosa Manik reminded that earlier DRP had tried to move a no confidence motion against Home Minister Shihab but DRP did not do it because they were aware of the consequences of such a move.
