Government signs MOU to develop Green Business Centre in Laamu Gan

The Government will be establishing a Green Business Centre in LaamuGan soon, and an MOU has been signed to launch this project. Greenpolicies and programmes are part of the Government’s ambitious policyto develop the country as the first carbon neutral nation. PresidentMohamed Nasheed has already announced this policy and the Governmenthas initiated several projects to give effect to the decision of theGovernment.

The MOU was signed between South Central Province Office, Ministry ofEconomic Development and Association of Ladies Entrepreneurs of AndraPradesh of India, said State Minister of the Province Ahmed Mujthaba.

 Mujuthaba said the project is designed to empower more women ingainful economic activities, and women of Gan will have theopportunity to make and market their products under the project. Hesaid the Centre will initially provide work placements to 10 womenand placements will be increased on the basis of the response from thepeople.

The State Minister whose office is situated in Gan said, this centrewill be an environment friendly centre and its products will also benature friendly. Products will be made from various garbage items,fish bones and coconut shells. The Minister said he hopes the centrewill become operational in one year.

The Ladies Association of Entrepreneurs will provide their technicalsupport including training, provision of some requirements at anaffordable price and promoting the products in foreign countries.
