The cabinet further decided to place the account under the care of Ministry of Finance and Treasury. It was decided to ask Maldives Police Service, to investigate, any illegal activity noted with regard to the discussed account. Further, it was decided that the Department of Immigration and Emigration would use the account, after making a request at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury, in cases where an expatriate laborer need to be deported.

The cabinet also decided to hold a stakeholders conference on the issues concerned with expatriate laborers.

Human resource ministry and Immigration department have great differences on the issue of fees and deposit money deposited by expatriate workers. Effective from 1 July expatriate workers deposited their fees and deposit money at Immigration Department. Immigration Department has also asked Human Resources Ministry to hand over all expatriate deposit monies and fees previously deposited there. However, this was never worked out.
