20 yr old Maldivian woman released after recovery

The 20 year old Maldivian woman tested positive for swine flue has been released from the Quarantine Facility at Hulhule’ after making a full recovery. She was released on Friday morning according to health ministry officials.

Maldivian woman, who returned home from Sri Lanka on 22 August was quarantined after she was tested positive to Influenza A. She was later screened for the fatal AH1N1 virus was confirmed positive.

The 22 year old Maldivian woman was the third person to be quarantined in Maldives. The other two people are also females, a Maldivian female and an expatriate female worker.

An 18 year old Maldivian boy, arriving to Male’ from Singapore on Thursday night was also tested positive to Influenza A. However, health ministry officials said the boy was tested negative to AH1N1 virus. He too was released on Friday morning after being kept in quarantine overnight.

Health ministry also revealed screening for Influenza A can be carried out in all of the provinces.
