Government revises Labor Regulation and Employment Agency Regulation

Ministry of Human Resources, Youth and Sports had revealed that regulation concerning labour and regulation on the management of employment agencies have revised.
According to the Ministry the changes includes offering flexibility to either the employer or the employment agency to request for work permit of the expatriate workers, the expatriate worker to deposit funds for one-way ticket to the home country with the Ministry, in case of increase in the prices of the ticket expatriates would now have to top-up only when he/she is being sent to the home country, if the fines charged on the new regulation is more than MRF 10,000 depending on the amount a 25% of the original amount to be paid and the remaining 75% of the payment to be distributed to a period of six months.
The Ministry has also said that the changes will take effect from 19 April 2009.
