17 parties have expressed interest to run the Addu Atoll Hithadhoo Hospital, Kulhudhuhfushi Regional Hospital and Indhira Ghandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in response to government announcement seeking private parties to manage and run the 3 government hospitals, State minister for economic development Adhil Saleem has revealed.
President Nasheed has said quality of medical services afforded to the people in various hospitals and health centers need to be improved and upgraded. He said although various institutions have been established under various names to provide health services and medical care to the people none of them are up to standard and tremendous effort is needed to afford quality health care to the people.
The President has also expressed his intention to private hospitals run by the government to speed up the upgrading of services as such upgrading by government would take more time. President has said upgrading of such essential services like medical care cannot be delayed.
State minister Adil said services available in hospitals in Maldives can also be obtained from clinics.
