Scouting plays a vital role in grooming the young – President

President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the scout movement was an important movement that groomed the younger generations into productive and responsible citizens. The President made this statement while speaking at the function held to award the President’s Badge and Scout Certificates to Maldivian Scouts. The function was held tonight at Ghiyaasuddin School.

Stressing the importance of the scout movement, the President said the movement emphasized on nurturing our future generation to take on the responsibilities of the nation.
The President congratulated the recipients of the badges and the certificates. Noting the significance of their achievements the President said the recipients were building the future of out nation. Further, he said the scout movement has long been an integral part of child and youth development.

At the function, the President awarded President’s Badge to 11 scouts from Majeediyya School and 13 scouts from Dharumavantha School. Before the presentation of the badges and certificates, they renewed their oath.

The welcoming remarks at the function were given by Chief Commissioner Ahmed Ali Maniku. The National Commissioner for Programmes Arif Rasheed delivered the introductory remarks. Hussain Mohamed Haneef, on behalf of the recipients of the badge, also spoke at the function.
