Public angered over delay IGMH doctors ending strike
Article Tools
A large number of Maldivians are expressing their frustrations and anger over the uncompromising attitude of IGMH doctors in the delay in ending their unofficial ‘protests’ and reporting back to work. Although the majority of the people blamed and criticized the government on Tuesday, the public opinion on Wednesday was critical of the doctors and nurses who stayed at home.
Member of the general public Ali Riza, who had to wait over an hour and half to receive medical services, expressing his feelings to Miadhu Daily said, “we are all humans, we are unable to consult the doctor or receive treatment, after long hours, when we finally get to see a doctor the doctor is a foreigner who can hardly understands what we say, this is certainly not what we want”. He said he would like to consult a local doctor, and that he does not what else to do and that he is now at a loss.
Aishath Shakeela said “doctors may have differences and issues that needs to be addressed and solved, but they have to report to duty, and if they report back to work and tell us, what they want, we are ready to join them and fight for their cause, we will join them in demonstrations in they want, we all love our doctors as they are ones who will care for us once we are sick”.
The sentiments and feelings of the general public are along similar lines as the second consecutive day of the ‘doctors strike’ ends. Most prefer the doctors report back to work and hold discussions to solve their disputes.
There are many points that are being hotly debated in the revised structure of Civil Service. Many civil servants have expressed their dissatisfaction with it.
