Pedophile who had sex with 35 boys arrested

A man who had long term homosexual relations with 35 underage persons has been arrested.

Addressing the media at Thursday’s press conference, Inspector Ismail Athif of the serious and organized crime unit, said Hussein Fazeel, 38, of Veyruge of K.Viliingili , was arrested on the 11th of January this year, in a special operation conducted after the police had received information of an illegal business in operation, which involved the smuggling and sale of alcohol. An external hard-disk containing pornographic images and video depicting a number of young boys performing various homosexual acts was found in Fazeel’s permanent residence, M. Faridhuveligé, Inspector Athif said.

“We found an external hard disk while conducting a search of the man’s residence,” Athif said. “We sent it to our forensics department, and they found a number of photographs and video on it. The photos displayed young boys less than 18 years of age, in various sexual poses. The videos showed the boys performing the sexual acts. I’m talking about 35 underage persons.”

Athif said further images found on the hard disk revealed instances where the boys were given alcohol and shown pornographic films. They were also shown playing video games and engaged in various juvenile distractions. Athif further stated Fazeel’s room was designed in a manner attractive to children and added Fazeel was with an underage boy when he was taken into police custody.

“A relative, according to him [Fazeel]” Athif said, referring to the child. “But the boy’s parents revealed Fazeel was not at all related to the boy. Both Fazeel and the boy later confessed to having homosexual relations. The photographs and videos that we found on the hard disk suggest Fazeel is a pedophile, as the photos include close-ups at extremely high resolutions. Perhaps he might have even sold some of these photographs abroad.”

Athif said the police had identified 7 of the 35 children involved, and one of the seven was now 18 years of age. He said the seven boys were photographed at various ages.

“The photographs chronicle the lives of the seven boys, in the same way as you might a lover’s.” Athif said. “We’ve seen photos of 35 children now, but we don’t know how many others are involved. Fazeel is obviously part of an old network. We’ve got another older man under surveillance now.”
