Designing of Utheem water & sewerage system commenced

Concept design and other necessary work for establishing a sewerage and fresh water system in the island of Utheem of Ha atoll are underway, according to Ha Utheem Island Office.
According to Island Chief of Maarandhoo Abdulla Ibrahim who is currently in charge of Utheem Island Office revealed that collecting of necessary information for the concept design of sewerage and water system commenced on the 28 th of this month.
Chief Abdulla revealed that discussions have been carried out with Al Habsy Company of Kuwait, Riyan Maldives, Environmental experts, Island Development Committees (IDC) youth and senior island residents.
According to Abdulla the concept design has to be submitted to the environment ministry by December this year and that if work goes according to plan implementation of the project will commence in early 2009.
The project is to be carried out under ADB loan assistance, Chief Abdulla said.
