Workers protest against pay reduction

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Sixty workers of the Maldives Airports Company have reportedly protested outside the main building of the company against elimination of overtime pay.

The employees who work for the security division of the company raised the issue with the CEO of the company Ali Hussein Didi following the change of corporate policy from August 21, say reports.

According to reports from Tuesday they would not be paid twice on weekends and public holidays.

But Didi denied reports that the workers had demonstrated outside the company’s main building.

Didi also told Miadhu that security staff of his company will soon be trained by Maldives National Defence Force.
