Community consulted – A community consultation program on development of tourism in Laam Atoll has been held. The meeting held in Fonadhoo was according to the atoll administrative office attended by 60 representatives from 12 inhabited islands in the atoll. Under the program discussions were held on the advantages and disadvantages of development of tourism in the atoll.

Kitchen set on fire – Atoll administrative office in Raa Atoll says that a kitchen in Rasmaadhoo has been burnt. The atoll administrator says that the fire was set deliberately. However the wrongdoers have not been identified yet. According to police the kitchen of Narugis Villa was set on fire at 1:00 am on August 16. Maldives Police Services also claims that it was an act of arson.

DRP member’s house destroyed – A house owned by ruling DRP’s Laam-region’s president has been completely destroyed. Owner of the house Hassan Gasim told Miadhu that his house was destroyed by ‘political opponents’. He says that he had spent Rufiyaa 54,000.00 to construct the house up to roof level.
