Couples need to attend the awareness program – Justice
Article Tools
Ministry of Justice has announced that starting from the 1st August 2007 no couples can marry without submitting the certificate of participation in an awareness program.
“But this principle will be followed in the islands where awareness program has been inaugurated. Presently the program is conducted only in the capital. So marriages in the islands will still follow the previous procedure.” said Registrar of the Ministry Ibrahim Waheed Ali while giving information to Miadhu Daily.
According to Mr. Waheed, the awareness program intends to provide information needed for a marriage life. Information will be provided based on religious and social aspects of a marriage. Basic information about marriage and the importance of marital life also will be provided to the participants under this awareness program.
“The aim of this program is to reduce the problems associated with family matters and divorces and also to aware the couples on how to solve problems” said Mr. Waheed.
Ministry of Justice says that the opportunity to participate in the program is open for both married and unmarried couples. This program is a fee free program and is conducted jointly by the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Family Court.
