South Asia Film Festival opening today

The South Asia Film Festival will be officially inaugurated today in the Maldives. The Festival is organized jointly by National Center for the Arts, Maldives Film Association, Bangladesh High Commission and Film Trust of India.

The 12 films included in the Festival will be exhibited at Olympus from 8th to the 12th of this month, with two films shown every day at 3.45 pm and 9 pm. Two Maldivian films are also featured in the Festival. Tickets are priced at 25 rufiyaa for a single show and 100 rufiyaa for a season ticket.

Foreign Minister Dr. Ahmed Shaheed will open the Festival at a ceremony today. During the festival a 3-day workshop will be conducted starting on the 10th.

National Center for the Arts has said the purpose of the Festival is to foster friendship and exchange cinematic experience among the countries. The Festival will give Maldivian film artistes the opportunity to come together with counterparts in other countries.
