Maldivian Ambassador presents credentials to Pakistani President

Maldivian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Mohamed Asim, presented his Credentials to President General Paruvez Musharraf yesterday.
General Musharraf welcomed his appointment and expressed his happiness to see the Maldives appointing an Ambassador to Pakistan.
The Pakistani President and the Ambassador discussed the bilateral relations existing between the Pakistan and Maldives and ways to further strengthen these ties.
The discussion also focused on further strengthening the activities of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation, SAARC.
During his visit to Pakistan, Ambassador Dr. Asim met with senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. He also met with the Maldivian students studying in Pakistan and inquired about their well-being.
Dr. Asim is also the Maldivian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
Pakistan and Maldives established diplomatic relations on 26 July 1966.
